Tips for Making Your Own Silk Wedding Flowers

The advantage to working with silk flowers is that you can make them several months before the wedding and have plenty of time to practice your skills and perfect your arrangements before the big day.
As well as bridal bouquets, you can also create everything from alter decorations, reception arrangements, to boutonnières and corsages from silk flowers. You can even buy silk petals to use to decorate reception tables.

Make notes! Of the numbers of flowers used in bouquet pictures that you come across and of the types and colors. This will help you choose a design an gauge the number of flowers needed for your own arrangement.
Order extra flowers in case you find that you need more than anticipated and for trial and errors. You can always use them to add extra flowers to the other bouquets, or extra corsages, boutonnières for special guests, or for decorations.

Bouquet holders are usually made of white plastic, are cone-shaped and have an attached handle. They come with floral foam already inserted into the cone Some holders come with a lace collar and some you can buy the lace collar separately ( if you choose to use one ) that fits underneath the holder.
It's a good idea to buy an extra holder to practice on, if you rearrange the flowers to often, you can weakening the the foam, causing your flowers to fall out. Its always best to use a dab of glue or a spot of hot glue to the base of the stems when you are sure you have the perfect bouquet.

Shape and size are the most important things to consider before purchasing any flowers. Any shape is easy to create. You just have to decide what size, type and colors you want.
